eazyberny the one they call eazy Beitrag melden Geschrieben 4. November 2004 (bearbeitet) Miami 100, New Jersey 77 Shaq’s Heat Hammer Nets EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 3 -- While Shaquille O'Neal was not at full strength in his debut for the Miami Heat, the New Jersey Nets already are looking pretty sick. Battling a sore hamstring and foul trouble, O'Neal didn't need to be the mammoth presence he usually is as the Heat coasted to 100-77 rout of the Nets in the season opener for both teams. Away from Kobe Bryant, the svelte-looking 325-pound O'Neal is expected to shift the balance of power in the Eastern Conference. O'Neal's status for the opener was in doubt due to a strained left hamstring, but he was able to take the court. O'Neal may have been better off resting as the Heat completely overwhelmed a Nets team that was purged in the offseason. Miami scored the game's first seven points, never trailed and led by as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter. Almost always commanding a double-team, O'Neal's presence managed to open up things for Dwyane Wadeand Rasual Butler. Wade netted 21 points and Butler chipped in 16. O'Neal, who picked up his fourth foul early in the third quarter, made 7-of-9 shots and collected 16 points and five rebounds in 17 minutes. After O'Neal went to bench at the 8:34 mark of the third, the Heat outscored the Nets, 24-13, to end the quarter and open a 74-56 cushion. Expecting a long season with All-Star point guard Jason Kidd out until at least December and unable to stabilize an overhauled roster, the Nets hardly resembled the team that has made three straight playoff trips, including back-to-back appearances in the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003. Olympian Richard Jefferson, one of the few stars the Nets still have, scored 19 points. Zoran Planinic, often buried on the bench last season, added 11 and four assists. bearbeitet 4. eazyberny the one they call eazy Beitrag melden Geschrieben 5. November 2004 Miami 92, Cleveland 86 Wade Sparkles for Heat MIAMI, Nov. 4 (Ticker) -- The presence of Shaquille O'Neal filled American Airlines Arena and helped his teammates fill the boxscore. Making his home debut before a record crowd, O'Neal scored 17 points and created all sorts of opportunities for his teammates as the Heat maintained control throughout a 92-86 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since acquiring O'Neal over the summer, the Heat have sold approximately 6,000 season tickets, doubling their total from last season. When 1,000 standing room tickets went on sale for the superstar center's home debut, they were gobbled up immediately. The standees pushed the crowd to 20,235, a record for a regular season game at the arena. And they saw the sort of impact the 7-1, 325-pound O'Neal always has on the game. Despite a hamstring twinge, O'Neal played 32 minutes and collected nine rebounds and three blocks. Commanding a double-team, he opened the floor for teammates Dwyane Wade, Udonis Haslem and Rasual Butler. Wade scored 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting, repeatedly beating the defense on dribble drives for layups or pull-up jumpers. On one occasion, he stopped short and sent Eric Snow - one of the better defenders in the NBA - tumbling as he went for the fake. Haslem scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, when the Heat pulled away. Butler made all five of his shots and scored 11 points. The Heat never trailed for the second straight game, shooting 47 percent (36-of-76). They are 2-0 after an 0-7 start last season. Drew Gooden had 24 points and 11 rebounds and LeBron James scored 21 points for the Cavaliers (0-2), who started 0-5 a year ago. 0 Zitieren Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen

Marcelinho . Beitrag melden Geschrieben 12. November 2004 Mavs Run Past Heat MIAMI, Nov. 11 (Ticker) -- Dirk Nowitzki and Marquis Daniels made the most of their opportunities. Nowitzki scored an NBA season-high 41 points and Daniels got a rare start and responded with 14 of his 22 points in a huge first quarter as the Dallas Mavericks posted a 113-93 triumph over the previously unbeaten Miami Heat. Nowitzki made just 5-of-16 shots in a loss to Orlando on Tuesday but was much sharper in this one. He was 12-of-24 from the field, including 4-of-7 on 3-point tries, and all 13 of his free-throw attempts. "I wanted to find my rhythm early tonight after not doing much against Orlando," Nowitzki said. "We want to be a good road team because last year we struggled a lot." "We did a great job on offense," Mavericks coach Don Nelson said. "I taught Dirk how to shoot that jumper in practice today. He put on quite a show. Dirk was making every shot. ... We rode him." Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant and Cleveland Cavaliers phenom LeBron James both had 38 points in a game earlier this season. Nowitzki's career high is 43 points, set Jan. 27 in Seattle. "Dirk had it going," Heat guard Keyon Dooling said. "He's one of the few guys in this league at the four position who can just stretch the whole floor. He came off of a couple of screen-and-rolls like he was a point guard and nailed threes." The 23-year-old Daniels got 15 starts last season as a rookie but has been slowed by left ankle pain this campaign. He had played sparingly until Tuesday, when veteran Michael Finley went down with a right ankle injury. With Finley out indefinitely, Daniels was inserted into the starting lineup and provided an immediate spark, making 5-of-7 shots in the opening 12 minutes as Dallas bolted to a 34-19 lead and never was headed. "I'm still tentative, but I'm playing through it," Daniels said. "It's hard to stop a team when you keep getting open the way we did." The Mavericks made 25 of their 41 shots in the opening half, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. "You always plan to have a good start, but it doesn't always work out that way," Nelson said. "Tonight it did. When you start off the way we did, it carries through to the rest of the game." Shaquille O'Neal had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Dwyane Wade added 20 for Miami, which had trailed for a total of just over five minutes in winning its first four games. The four straight wins to open the season already had established a team record. "(There's not) a whole lot to say," Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "They dominated from the get-go. They got absolutely everything they wanted. ... Obviously, Nowitzki was fabulous, but we've got to have a better plan. I'll fault myself for that." Van Gundy was not pleased with how his team defended the perimeter or handled itself when things got ugly early. "Those are the kind of teams we've got to get better against," Van Gundy said. "I was not happy with how we handled our first adversity of the season." Wade left the game with 7:07 remaining after getting tangled up with teammate Michael Doleac. Wade suffered a sprained left ankle and did not return. He is questionable for Friday's game in San Antonio. 0 Zitieren Diesen Beitrag teilen Link zum Beitrag Auf anderen Seiten teilen
