Dean Furman , ein talentierter Jugendspieler aus dem Nachwuchs von Chelsea, wurde vom neuen Rangers-Coach Paul Le Guen zu den Rangers geholt.

Czech midfielder Rosicky signs for Arsenal

Czech Republic international Tomas Rosicky has today joined Arsenal Football Club from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Attacking midfielder Rosicky, 25, who has made 31 appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Borussia Dortmund and Sparta Prague, secured World Cup football for the Czech Republic this summer by scoring the winning goal in the decisive qualifying play-off second leg against Norway last November.

After joining Borussia Dortmund in January 2001, Tomas won the Bundesliga and reached the UEFA Cup Final in his first full season with the club (2001/02). He also enjoyed success with Sparta Prague, where he won back-to-back Czech Republic league titles in 1999 and 2000.

Rosicky made his international debut aged 17 and represented his country at the 2000 and 2004 European Championships. Tomas was also recognised in his home country by becoming the youngest ever winner of the Czech Player of the Year award in 2001 aged 20, and he went on to repeat the honour the following season.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted to welcome Tomas to our squad. He has great technique, skill on the ball and sharp passing. Tomas has good experience at all levels for club and country, and we look forward to welcoming him to Arsenal after what will hopefully be a successful summer for him at the World Cup.”

New Arsenal signing Rosicky said: “I’m really happy to be here at Arsenal, it is a great day for me. The team showed its strength recently in the Champions League and it has big potential with a lot of young players, I think we can be even better next season. This is the best club in Europe and I will give everything for Arsenal.”

Rosicky will join up with his new team-mates after competing in this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Liverpool have this evening confirmed that striker Fernando Morientes has joined Valencia for an undisclosed fee.

The Spanish striker didn't manage to live up to his reputation during his sixteen months on Merseyside and managed just 12 goals in 61 games for the Reds.

He was left out of the Spanish squad for this summer's World Cup after failing to play a major role in the Liverpool first team last season.

Everybody at Liverpool FC would like to wish Nando all the best with his new club in Spain.

Chelsea sign Feyenoord star Kalou 

Kalou signed a deal after passing a medical and agreeing terms

Chelsea have signed Feyenoord striker Salomon Kalou on a three-year deal.

The 20-year-old had been heavily tipped for a switch to Stamford Bridge and completed his move after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Kalou, who has signed for an undisclosed fee, scored 15 goals in 35 games in the Dutch League last season.

The striker was born in Ivory Coast but lost his bid to obtain Dutch nationality in time to play for Holland during this summer's World Cup.

Kalou is the younger brother of Ivory Coast captain Bonaventure Kalou, who plays for Paris St Germain.

Supported by Netherlands coach Marco van Basten and the country's former playmaker Johan Cruyff, Kalou applied for Dutch citizenship but was denied by Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk.

She told parliament in March that Kalou did not fulfil the criteria for fast-track citizenship and would have to retake a Dutch language and culture test.

Kalou becomes Jose Mourinho's second signing of the summer after midfielder Michael Ballack arrived from Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

The Blues are also thought to be in negotiations with AC Milan over Ukranian striker Andriy Shevchenko.

Nigerianer Obi Mikel von Chelsea verpflichtet

Nach der Verpflichtung des Fußball-Starstürmers Andrej Schewtschenko vom AC Milan hat Englands Champion Chelsea Freitagabend eine weitere Verpflichtung bekannt gegeben. Der nigerianische Mittelfeldspieler John Obi Mikel wird für insgesamt 16 Millionen Pfund (23,3 Mio. Euro) zu den Londonern wechseln.

Chelsea hat am Freitag eine Vereinbarung mit Manchester United und Lyn Oslo erzielt. United wird 12 Millionen, die Hälfte sofort, den Rest in einem halben Jahr, bekommen, der norwegische Klub erhält 4 Millionen unter den gleichen Bedingungen. United verzichtete auf die Option auf Mikel.

Mikels Zukunft war unsicher gewesen, als der 19-Jährige gesagt hatte, er möchte für Chelsea spielen, obwohl er im April vergangenen Jahres für United unterschrieben hatte. Der Internationale, der vergangenen Jänner von Lyn zu United hätte wechseln sollen, hatte gemeint, er sei vor der Unterschrift unter Druck gesetzt worden.
